Age Requirement

Your teen must be 16 years old

Special Learner's Permit Form

Please complete and print the permit application form using this link: https://www.state.nj.us/mvc/pdf/license/BA-412D.pdf

Important: Do not fill out the following sections:

Driver License Number
Name of School
Instructor ID
School Wall License No.
Signature of Principal

Student instructions:
At the bottom of the first page, you'll see a large bold "X" this is where the student must either sign or print their name.

Proof of ID

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) requires original documents to process a permit application.

You must provide one of the following original documents for your young adult:

Birth Certificate
U.S. or Foreign Passport/Card
NJ State ID

Photocopies will not be accepted.

Permit Purchase

Permit purchases can only be completed by Total Driving School.
We personally handle the drop-off and pick-up of all required documents to ensure their safety and secure processing at a local New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) office.
